Key differences explained
Social vs private (the biggest one)
Rodeo is built around friend groups. Lists are shared. Plans get RSVPs. Chats happen inside the app. Friend availability is a first-class feature. The whole product is bet on the idea that saves become valuable when they become plans with people. Sorti is the opposite premise: most saves are private and they become valuable when you can find them six months later. Sorti supports shared folders for the cases where collaboration matters (a wedding inspiration folder, a shared recipe folder), but the default is your library, not the group chat.
One vertical vs every vertical
Rodeo is sharpest on events: dates, venues, booking links, reminders. Outside of events and places, it is not the right tool. If you save a recipe, Rodeo will not extract ingredients. If you save a product, there is no price tracking. If you save an article, there is no reading queue. Sorti covers every common saving vertical: recipes, products, places, articles, outfits, screenshots, PDFs, audio memos, workouts, travel ideas. Each vertical gets the right treatment - recipe extraction for recipes, price drop alerts for products, OCR and similar-item discovery for screenshots, summaries for articles.
Action shape: plan a night out vs find a save later
Rodeo's action is forward in time: turn this save into a calendar event, invite people, book the table. Sorti's action is backward in time: I saved something three months ago, help me find it now that I need it. Semantic search, AI categorization, and rich extraction are all designed for the moment of retrieval. Both are valid jobs - they just happen at different points of the saving lifecycle.
Availability and platform
Rodeo is currently iOS invite-only beta. If you are on Android, or you do not have an invite, you are on the waitlist. Sorti is on the App Store and Google Play right now, free, no invite, no waitlist. Web is coming soon. If you want to start saving today, Sorti is available today.
Pricing
Both are currently free. Rodeo is venture-backed (recent $8.5M raise) so a paid tier is a likely future direction once they exit beta. Sorti is free forever with no premium tier and no ads - every feature is included for every user, indefinitely.
