TL;DR - Quick verdict

  • Pick Pool if you are on iPhone only, your saves are almost entirely camera-roll screenshots, and auto-generated collections are enough.
  • Pick Sorti if you save from every app on your phone (Instagram, TikTok, Safari, WhatsApp) and want it organized with real categories and sub-categories, on iPhone or Android.
  • Pricing: both are free.
  • Platforms: Pool is iOS-only. Sorti is iOS + Android, with web coming soon.

What is Pool?

Pool is a new iPhone app that turns your camera-roll screenshots into a searchable memory bank. You give it access to your photos, and it organizes screenshots into auto-generated collections it calls “pools”: shopping, recipes, travel, and other categories inferred from what you have saved.

Once imported, Pool tries to track down the original link behind a screenshot, a retailer page for a product, a creator’s post for a recipe, and offers an AI assistant to search across your saved content. It launched in June 2026 with a $2M+ pre-seed round from General Catalyst and Kima Ventures. It is currently iOS-only and free.

What Pool does well

Pool is a thoughtful, focused product. For iPhone users whose saved content lives almost entirely in the camera roll as screenshots, Pool’s auto-generated collections are a real upgrade over scrolling through thousands of screenshots. The link recovery feature is genuinely useful when you screenshotted something and lost the source.

The concern is that most people today save more than just screenshots. They save Instagram posts and reels via the share sheet, TikTok videos, links sent in WhatsApp, product pages from Amazon or Shein. Pool cannot see any of that. It only reads what is already in the camera roll on your iPhone.

What is Sorti?

Sorti is an AI-powered app that organizes everything you save on your phone. When you share a link, screenshot, or photo to Sorti from any app, its AI reads the content, understands what it is, and files it into smart categories (Recipes, Shopping, Travel, Fashion, Restaurants) with sub-categories underneath.

Beyond organizing, Sorti turns saves into actions. Price tracking monitors products and alerts you on price drops. Recipe extraction pulls ingredients and steps. Restock alerts watch specific sizes on retailers like Zara and Shein. Semantic search lets you find things by describing them. Shared folders let you plan trips or build wishlists with friends.

Sorti is on iOS and Android today, with a web version coming soon. It is 100% free.

Key differences explained

Camera roll only vs. any app

Pool reads screenshots from your iPhone camera roll and organizes them. That is its capture model. If you tap Share on an Instagram post, a TikTok reel, or a link in WhatsApp, Pool cannot receive it. Sorti uses the standard iOS and Android share sheet, so anything you can Share from any app becomes a save. Screenshots, links, PDFs, photos, all captured in the same flow.

Auto pools vs. real categories and sub-categories

Pool creates “pools” automatically based on your saved content. It is smart and low-effort, but you do not control the hierarchy. Sorti gives you structured categories out of the box (Recipes, Shopping, Travel, Fashion, Restaurants, and more), with sub-categories inside each so you can nest Shoes under Shopping, or Italy under Travel. You can also rename, merge, and reorganize to fit how you actually think.

Platform: iPhone only vs. iPhone + Android

Pool is iOS-only at launch. Sorti works on both iPhone and Android today, and a web version is on the way. Your organized library syncs across all of your devices, so a save from your phone is available from your other devices too.

Rediscovery vs. action

Pool helps you rediscover what you saved. Sorti goes one step further: it turns saves into action. Save a product, Sorti tracks the price and pings you on a drop. Save a recipe, Sorti extracts ingredients and steps. Save a restaurant, Sorti keeps the map and hours ready. Save a piece from Zara in a size, Sorti watches the restock. The goal is not just to remember what you saved, it is to actually use it.

Personal vs. shareable

Pool is a personal-use app. Sorti supports shared folders with viewer and editor roles, so you can plan a vacation, build a wishlist, or curate a recipe collection with friends, family, or a partner. Everything stays synced in real time.

Who should use which app?

Choose Pool if...

You are on iPhone only, your saved content lives almost entirely as camera-roll screenshots, and you are happy with auto-generated collections rather than structured categories. Pool is a focused app for a specific behavior.

Choose Sorti if...

You save from every app on your phone, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, Safari, Amazon, Shein, and you want it all in one organized library with real categories and sub-categories. Choose Sorti if you use Android, want your saves to sync across devices, need price tracking or restock alerts, or want to share collections with friends. Choose Sorti if you want the app to turn saves into action, not just memory.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Sorti and Pool?

Pool is an iPhone-only app that focuses on organizing screenshots from your camera roll. Sorti works on iPhone AND Android, accepts anything you can share (links, Instagram posts, TikTok reels, PDFs, screenshots), and organizes it into structured categories with sub-categories. Sorti also tracks prices, alerts you on restocks, and lets you share vaults with friends. Both are free.

Does Pool work on Android?

No. Pool is iOS-only at launch. If you use an Android phone or want your saves to sync across iPhone and Android, Sorti is the alternative. Sorti works on both platforms today, with a web version coming soon.

Does Pool save Instagram links or TikTok videos?

Pool imports from your iPhone camera roll only. If you screenshot an Instagram post, Pool can categorize the screenshot, but it cannot save the actual Instagram or TikTok link when you tap Share. Sorti accepts anything from your phone's share sheet, so you can share a post, reel, story, or link from Instagram, TikTok, Safari, WhatsApp, or any other app directly, and Sorti keeps the original link plus the visual.

Does Pool have categories and sub-categories?

Pool auto-generates collections it calls "pools" from what you save. Sorti has structured, named categories (Recipes, Shopping, Travel, Fashion, and more) with sub-categories inside each. You can organize a Shopping category into Shoes, Bags, Outerwear, etc. Sorti also lets you rename, merge, and rearrange, so your organization matches how you actually think.

Which app has price tracking?

Sorti. When you save a product, Sorti extracts the price and monitors it daily. When the price drops, you get a notification. Sorti also surfaces relevant coupon codes and pings you when a variant you saved is back in stock. Pool does not offer price tracking, restock alerts, or shopping-specific features.

Can I share collections with friends?

Sorti supports shared folders with viewer and editor roles, everything synced in real time. You can plan a trip together, build a shared wishlist, or curate a recipe collection with a partner. Pool is a personal-use app with no sharing or collaboration features.

Was Sorti mentioned by TechCrunch?

Yes. In their June 2026 coverage of Pool, TechCrunch named Sorti among the apps defining the new category of AI-powered rediscovery of saved content: apps that use AI to help you find, understand, and act on things you meant to revisit later.
